A few years ago, I gave Master this blanket:
It covers about two couch cushions, and is 5′ tall. It took me a year and a half to make, and it was my first blanket. When I gave it to him, he laughed and said it was too small. When he saw me tearing up he asked why I made it so small, and I said “It’s supposed to be a TV blanket. *sniffle* And, it took me a year and a half to make you. *sniffle*”. At the time, I felt totally hurt, because I thought he didn’t like it. He told me he thought it was well made, but just too small, but once I explained what a TV banket was (basically, something to cover your lap while you watch TV) he told me he loved it. But, I always felt like it was kind of inadequate.
About a year ago, my mother gave me a ton of yarn, and me and Master decided we were going to use it to make him a new, bigger blanket. 🙂 It’s five hundred stitches across (crochet, no knitting), and each color has seven rows. It’s a huge blanket, and basically, I couldn’t fit it all in a picture without folding it, but here is how it is coming along so far.
Here’s a close up:
The orange is the bottom, and he has been choosing what colors he wants in what order. I ran out of yarn when I got to the teal color, so he went to the store and chose this maroon one I’m adding onto it now. It’s kind of fun, now that we have a craft store nearby, to have him pick up a skein of yarn on the way home from work, and not know what he has picked until he gets it here. I know it’s going to take a looong ass time to get this blanket done, but I thought it would be cool to post a progress picture. 🙂
