One Step Forward, One Back

I’ve been gone from blogging for a little while, since my blog decided to explode. Thanks blog. ::gives blog the death eyes::

Physically, things have been crazy (always are, eh?), thank you, Hypermobility Syndrome. The good news is that my foot is much, much better. I am to the point now where I can wear shoes that aren’t clogs (Omg, clogs are pool or dorm shoes only, I say! Not outside the house shoes!) and I can do pretty much anything I want to do with my foot. Kneel, walk, stand on tip toe, jump, etc etc. The only thing is that we’re working on getting the strength in my foot back, because while I have my full range of motion back, my foot still shakes a bit when I try to do certain things. (Like, you know, walking down the stairs). Still, we’re on month nine of my recovery here, and I am soooo happy that I am finally becoming more mobile again. Rock on!

Unfortunately..

A few weeks ago, I yawned a bit weirdly and I felt and heard a huge pop in my jaw. Fun. After various and sundry tests, doctors, etc, we have figured out the problem. I’m going to be fine, luckily, but I’m going to need.. You guessed it.. More physical therapy. I dream of a day when I don’t need to go to physio anymore, but it’s not like I have anything I can do about it.

The oral surgeon says (after we got an MRI), that it looks like my jaw is more mobile than it should be, thus I sprained it.  Hmm, sounds familliar. So now it hurts to chew even the squishiest food, but I am getting by. At least my jaw will open now, so that is a plus.

Medically, I don’t ever really seem to have the luck, but I’m getting by at my own pace. I’m trying really hard to become physically active again, because laying around the house for all this time while my foot has been healing has really only weakened my muscles and made them even more prone to injury than they were before. It is slow going, but I’m doing what I can, and hopefully my workouts will get more challenging as time goes on.. And hopefully I don’t get hurt as much. We’ll see though. I won’t count my chickens before they hatch.

I also managed to hurt my left wrist. It’s not a huge deal as it is an issue that I’ve had for years now, but it’s slightly affecting my ability to get things done around the house, and typing, caming, and sewing have all become challenges. With any luck, it’ll be improved within a week or two and all will be well.

Master on the other hand.. Master hurt his right wrist. He’ll be okay, but he’s in a splint for now. That’s a post for another day, for sure.

I tell ya. It doesn’t rain but it pours.

  1. Sometimes I just want to offer to take a few injuries for you. You know, so that you don’t have to go to the hospital for a few months!

  2. Bless you both. Sending healy vibes to both of you in the hopes it speeds your recoveries up!

  3. Wishing you a fast and happy recovery. Just bring a annoying virgin child to the demon next time, it’ll probably make it shorten your sentience in physical therapy (I hear they are worse then most sadists). JK really but do get better soon.
