What an exciting and awesome weekend!  Friday night we went out to eat at a Chinese food buffet.  The same one we went to the night we bought the car, actually.  Okay, truth is, buying a car is expensive so we needed a cheap dinner.   It was still really nice.  One thing which I thought was weird though, is that while I was at the buffet, I noticed something.  It seems as though everyone in Colorado likes to wear their jackets indoors.  Even when eating, and even when they know they are going to be some place for a while.    Since I noticed it at the restaurant I’m noticing it everywhere.  Master pointed out to me that they also seem to like to do this while wearing shorts.  This made me giggle.

Thumbs up for tasty food! 🙂

So anyway, we finished eating dinner much earlier then we thought we would, and we went over to the movie theater early, just for the hell of it, and because we had no other plans that night.  So, we showed up to the theater at about 6:30.  Mind you, our movie was at 10PM, and yet  people were already lining up!  Really?!  Really?!  So, we got in line, and had a nice long wait to see Alice.  I loved the movie.  I’ve had some friends tell me they thought it sucked, but you know what?  I found it to be a fun little take on an awesome story.  The only complaint I had, was I didn’t like seeing it in the IMAX.  (As a side note, seeing Alice in IMAX means I can cross seeing a movie in IMAX off my Day Zero Project list. Woot!)

Just for LostMaverick. ;)) Told you he eats all the popcorn!!

I’ve tried to like 3D, but I just don’t think I do.  When I saw Avatar, I thought that maybe 3D was changing, and I’d start liking it, because Avatar was so well done (the 3D effects, I mean.  I really wouldn’t want to put myself through seeing that movie again!).  The 3D in it wasn’t this hokey “Let’s throw lots of things at the screen, and make you feel like you’re about to get smacked in the face” sort of 3D.  It just looked like it enhanced the movie.  I felt like the 3D in Alice was a whole lot of the former, and for me, it took away from the awesome movie.  I just think I would have loved it a lot more if it wasn’t 3D.  Not much of a complaint against the movie itself, I guess.

Sunday I got another of my things to do crossed off of my Day Zero Project list!  Master and me decided to go out walking on a new trail, and on our way we saw a prairie dog town!  It was so cool!  We just sort of walked over a hill, and I practically squealed with delight!  I have been dying to see a prairie dog since I moved here.  In fact, when Master came out to do his interview, he told me they were everywhere.  So, after six months,  I was beginning to think that they didn’t exist, and he just tricked me.  Nope!

You gotta look REALLY close to see ’em. 🙂 They’re kind of hard to see.

The prairie dogs were a lot closer in person, but we didn’t have our real camera with us, just a camera phone, so sorry for the shitty image!

That was our weekend in a nutshell.  Mew mew mew mew mew mew mew.

  1. Yeah, 3D can be overwhelming at times. When I went to see Avatar, I had to take the glasses off a couple times to give my eyes a break. Still looking forward to seeing Alice like that though; how can you not see a movie that colorful like that 🙂

Thanks for the pic of Apple Pig; so cute 😉

  2. OMG I LOVED Alice in Wonderland too. I didn't see it in 3D because I heard thinga about it similar to what you said. I thought it was interesting, funny, and at times very pretty looking. My favorite part of the movie was Helena Bonham Carter. She was SO funny. I'm glad you guys had a good time!

  3. Aww, if that's how the 3-D is I'm going to puke! I thought it would be like Avatar! Damn. It still looks too good to pass up though! 😀

Mmm, Chinese sounds so yummy. Do you have any tips on how to order, or in a buffet especially, how to know if it's vegan without having to ask for every item?

    1. Heya Shii. 🙂 Yeah, Alice in Wonderland was WAY too good to pass up, I think. 🙂 Lots of fun, but if we go see it again, I think it'll be not 3D. We'll see.

Oh, when I order chinese, I usually get a whole bunch of "boring" stuff, lol. They had a mongolian grill at this particular place, so I put plain rice noodles, and lots of veggies on a plate with some soy sauce, and let them grill the veggies up for me. Chinese food is pretty easy because there's usually lots of steamed veggies to eat. 🙂 Most of the stuff isn't vegan though, sad really. 🙁
