A Nice Relaxing Night At The Movies.. Sort Of.

This past Friday we went out to see Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Pt1.  I got all dressed up with my Hogwarts messenger bag, a cloak, my gryffindor socks, and a short black skirt.  I know it’s a bit silly, but I also think it is fun.  We got the directions, piled into the car..  And then Master SLAMMED his finger in the car door!

My heart completely sunk, not because I thought we wouldn’t see the movie, but more because it seemed like our chance at a nice relaxing night was totally sabotaged.  We went into the house, and the whole way Master was cussing, but also saying that he was NOT missing out on the movie.  LOL!  I went into the house and got him some ice, and some ibuprofen, and then I tried to talk him into going to urgent care to get an x ray and make sure he didn’t fracture anything.  His fingers were swelling up and turning a deep blue color.  It was horrible.  I had him see if he could make a fist.  At that point, he could not.  He said that he was going to Harry Potter one way or another, and that if it was still swollen we could take him to urgent care in the morning.  I’m not one to argue with Master, (My job is to help him, not make his life more stressful or force him to do anything he would not want to do) so I helped him bring more ice for the car, and off we went.

Before we went to the theatre, we went for dinner first.  I do not know the name of the restaurant, but it was a small family-style place.  Master ordered for me, and kept his fingers in a glass of ice water the whole time.  lol. 🙂  The waitress kept looking at him with a curious look on her face.  Dinner was delicious, and before we left we asked for a box to take the leftovers home in.  I forgot to bring it to the car. 🙁

We got to the movie theatre three hours early, and there were already 12 people in line!  Ha!  We pretty much just played with our Itouches and waited.  Right before they started letting us in, three people cut in front of the line (as a group of people were waiting for them) and a shouting match broke out.  Two grown men screaming at each other over the fact that one of them cut in line.  Honestly?  Yeah, it does suck to wait for hours in line and have someone cut in front – but this isn’t high school.  What good will a shouting match accomplish?  Not to mention, we were among the top twenty people in line, so it wasn’t as though they were going to be missing out on good seats.  I am forever baffled by how people act in public.  ::shakes head::

The movie itself?  Well, I won’t give away any spoilers (yet, I may put up my reasons another day, there’s a lot of them) but both Master and me were disappointed with the movie.  I say this not from the position of someone who just has a passing “likeness” for the Harry Potter books and movie, but as someone who adores the world of Harry Potter.  Both Master and me think that they just took way too many liberties and changed way too many major plot points in the movie.  I will say, the ending was spectacularly done though, and we will still be buying this when it comes out on Blu-Ray.  (I mean come on, we’re going to have all of them but one? 🙂

The following morning Master’s fingers were barely swollen at all, and he said they no longer hurt.  We were just so relieved!  No xray needed, and he is doing just fine.   As a side note to those who keep asking about it:  my knee is doing much better. 🙂  Granted, I have yet to jog on it again (Master wants me to wait a while longer) but it is bothering me much less than it was.  The bruising is cleared up, and I think the major thing now is just getting back to activity.

Also, I know I said there was going to be a picture of me and Apple Pig from when we went out, and we did take a couple, but for some reason they do not appear to be on my camera now!  If I figure out what happened to them, I’ll post them later.

Mew! 🙂

  1. I totally agree with you when you say they took a lot of liberties with the film! From the point of view of someone who hasn’t really read the books, or just likes them a bit, I’m sure it’s fine. Still, to people who really loved reading them, it can be a bit of a let down that they change things around for time or because the person in charge has a different view of where the movie should go.

Glad that it turns out your Master is alright. Slammed fingers are no fun at all, and especially if there’s an actual fracture or worse. 3:

Double glad your knee is feeling much better! :3

    Lol, shouting match.

    1. Thanks @RacTheKitty! 😀 Yeah, we’ve talked to people who hadn’t read the books, and most seem to like it. I didn’t *hate* it, but was very disappointed. And this is coming from someone who LOVES all the other movies, despite some of the liberties they took in the past. Ah, well. 🙂

Thanks! We’re so glad his fingers are OK too. 🙂 Whew. That would have sucked so hard right now.

      🙂

  2. Oh I am *So* glad his hand was ok. I smash my fingers in a freaking cabinet door and I’m spazing out! thankfully I have never done it in a car door! I even have a high threshold to pain!

I always end up leaving my leftover box sitting on the table. I don’t know why. I have got to the point where I have to ask david to try to remember because I know I won’t lol

I am glad your knee is better too 🙂

phew. i’m out of the loop since my contest. 🙂

  3. Hope everything gets better for you two …
We haven’t seen the movie yet, all of our friends have lol and it only came out here like a week ago. We have a rule that we never see a movie within the first week. This is due to me and Master being introverted. I don’t want a bratty kid again kicking my seat ( I yelled at that little brat forget which movie it was lol) and we just don’t like being surronded by lots of people in a tiny space. Plus we have free movie tickets from Master’s work (he won employee of the month a few times this year.) And to us who usually just wait for the dvd to come out we’ve been to the movies a fair bit this year 🙂 and Master got the books on cd (can’t see to well so he listens instead) so we already know whats gonna happen so we see no point in rushing out.
