Browsing the amazing adult toys store MyPleasure, I came across some silicone lube. I’ve heard a lot about silicone lube from other people in the past, but I never tried it. Something about it was a bit intimidating to me. Water based lubricants seemed simpler, and somehow more accessible. I do not know why, but I always thought of silicone lubricants as something which only very advanced players would use or bother with. That could not be further from the truth!
The silicone lubricant I chose was called Wet Platinum Silicone Lubricant. This formula comes in a three ounce bottle with a pop top. The bottle is black and opaque, but the lubricant is completely clear and see through. There is no smell or taste to the lube that I noticed. I do not recommend this for oral sex lubricant though, it’s not meant to be ingested, but a little bit on your tongue by accident shouldn’t cause you to gag.
The first thing I did when this lube arrived was to open it up right away and pour a droplet into my fingers. I’d heard so much about the silky texture, but had never experienced it first hand. You could say I was an eager beaver. I turned the bottle upside down and found that I had to squeeze the bottle to get any to come out, and even then it only comes out in half-droplet sized quantities. You’ll need to squeeze the bottle quite a bit to get a lot out. You shouldn’t need too much though. I would say that I used about half the amount of silicone lube that I normally use of water based lube. Since water based lube usually lasts me forever, this should last me an eternity.
Silicone based lubricants do have some down sides. For starters, you cannot use silicone based lubricants with a silicone toy. The silicone lube will degrade the toy’s material, so be careful which toys you mix with the lube. Also, you can’t wash silicone lube away with just water, or a baby wipe. You’ll need to use soap. The cons of this is that:
A: You’ll need to take a shower immediately after you’re done with your play.
B: If you’re a female, and you just used this lubricant on the outside of your vagina (eg: labia or clit), you’ll be able to use soap and wash this off just fine. However, putting soap inside your vagina is not recommended, and can cause more harm than good. For this reason, you’ll need to wait for the lube to naturally exit the body, which means that you’ll be walking around being a bit drippy. It didn’t bother me much, but I feel a warning ahead of time is only fair.
C: If you are either a man or a woman, and use this lubricant on the outside on your anus, you’ll be fine (for the same reasons mentioned above). However, if you put some of this on and insert an anal toy, then you’re going to have to play the waiting game for this to leave the body on its own. Remember, the anus can be very easily irritated or even damaged by soaps, so it is not recommended to put it inside. I used this toy in my ass, and then went for a jog an hour later. I didn’t have any serious problems, but I noticed everything felt a bit squishy. If it’s really bothersome to you, females could wear a pantyliner, males will unfortunately not have many options for this. About an hour and a half after the toy was removed from my butt, I had no unpleasantness. This isn’t something that should plague you for very long, but again, a warning is only fair I think.
The good news about water itself not washing off this lube is that you can use your underwater toys with ease! Just add a dab to your toy, and go to town in the tub or bath. It won’t wash off unless you use soap, so enjoy.
This lube helped me do something I wasn’t sure was possible right now. I had purchased an anal toy which was supposed to have a diameter of 1.5″. Unfortunately, when it showed up it was actually 1.65″. This was too large for me, but, not being a quitter I have been trying dutifully to get it in. The first few times I used a water based lube. I never got the toy past the initial head. This time, I decided I wanted to try the silicone lube since it is just so silky and wonderful. Unfortunately, my butt plug was also silicone. To combat this, I took a non-lubricated condom and rolled it all the way down to the base of the toy, and then over the sides of the “anchor”. I tied a knot in the bottom of the condom so that no silicone lube could get through. I put about four or five drops on the head of the toy, and spread them all around. It took me a couple of minutes to work the toy in, but I had no pain and it went in very smoothly! I was so excited! Thank you, silicone lube.
There are very few ingredients in this lube. They are: Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethiconol, Phenyl Trimethicone, Tocopheryl Acetate. However, it does mention that it is hypoallergenic, so most people should not have a problem with this. If you are normally very sensitive to lubricants I recommend doing a small patch test on the inside on your wrist to be sure this won’t cause any reactions. I’m really sensitive to lubes, and even lubes which say they are designed for a woman’s natural PH seem to burn or just be unpleasant. This just felt silky and nice.
Overall, this is a wonderful lube, which is exceptionally great for hand jobs, or anal fun. I highly recommend it, and am giving it 5 super slick and NEVER sticky paws:
Thank you so much, MyPleasure, for allowing me to try out this lube in exchange for an honest and fair review.
