Spec-tacular

I know, I know. But, I’ve made worse puns before, haven’t I?  Anyway, you’re not here because you care about my hideous attempt at cute review titles.  You’re here because you’re dying to know how Babeland’s speculum checks out.  Aren’t you?

Oh, no, come back!  Don’t get scared off just because I said the dreaded “S” word.  Speculum doesn’t have to be a scary word.  (Though, it can be if you want too…)  Speculums can be sexy!  It can be exciting to be “opened” in a way that you or your lover can see inside your most intimate places.  And, it doesn’t have to hurt or be cold or terrible like at the doctor’s office.  Promise.

(Though, again..  If you’re the type who likes that sort of thing…)

Here’s the speculum I received:

Speculum

See?  It’s almost cute, not scary at all!  As you can see, it’s made from plastic, and very smooth.  The insertable end is rounded so it won’t hurt when it’s coming or going, and there are no sharp parts which make contact with the vagina.

Before I get too far into this (pun.. intended!), just to make sure we’re all on the same page- this is a vaginal speculum.  Anal speculums look much different.  Do not use this on your back door!

Since Babeland only had “Plastic” written in the product description, I decided to dig deeper to find out what this speculum is actually made of.  K, from Babeland, emailed me back quickly, and let me know that the toy is actually made of PU plastic.  I’d never heard of PU plastic, but K informed me that it is just as non-porous as ABS plastic, but she recommends not sharing it with anyone you’re not fluid-bonded with.  As a personal policy, Master Pravus and me don’t like to share anything that cannot be boiled (except with each other), but that’s something you can decide for yourself.

We had a lot of fun with this one in use, but we also ran into a bit of trouble.  When I’m at the doctor’s office, I’m not nearly as wet as I am when I’m with Master Pravus (of course!) and a couple of times, he would insert the speculum, and a minute or two later, it would slide out because I was too wet.  He had to keep taking it out, wiping it off, and re-inserting it.  Eventually, he just decided to hold it in place.

Using a speculum offers you a very different view of your bits!  Master Pravus loved the look he got and said it was very sexy seeing how pink and wet I was.  He also is one of those people who enjoys “tools”, so he really liked the hands-on fun this allowed.  It was also fun to be able to reach a finger inside and touch things that he could also see clearly, thanks to the speculum’s clear plastic.

From the receiver’s end, I really liked being open to Master in this way.  This is something totally different than anything we’ve tried.  Humiliation is a big turn on for me, and for me this was mildly so. I know that if we had another partner using this on me, it’d be a lot more humiliating to me. I am so comfortable with my Master that it can be hard for him to humiliate me.  If you like humiliation, I’m sure this would be a great tool for you.

Of course, this is also a great item if you have a medical fetish. While that’s not how we used it, this is obviously a medical tool and could certainly be used in that manner. I could also see this being used in similar but-not-quite-medical niches like “alien abductions”. There’s really so many cool things you could do with this when you apply your imagination.

If you’re just curious about what you look like down below, this is a great education tool.  You can get out your handy mirror, and use the speculum to see yourself from a different perspective.

Cleaning is a no-go.  It comes apart, so you can get to everything simply, but the material and the tiny pieces are an issue.  There’s a lot of little crevices for lube, ejaculate, and more to get stuck in.  Also this is only recommended for one-time use so off the bat that can be a deterrent. If you’re interested, you could always invest in something more hard-wearing. Before spending a big wad of cash, a disposable device can be the trick sometimes though. Speculums come in different materials, you’ll find them in different varieties of plastic and even metal!

Master Pravus and me really love the speculum, and I’m giving it four paws.  I took off one star because for a single use item, these could get expensive. I do wish that these were more washable or reusable for the price tag.

Thank you so much, Babeland, for allowing me the chance to try out this toy in exchange for an honest and fair review.
