His Name is “Rexie!”

With Rexie!

Serenade gets a monthly manicure you see, to get Soft Paws put on her nails (or else she scratches the Hell out of everything).  We were sitting in the pet hospital while we waited for our baby to be all done, and Master Pravus told me if I wanted I could go pick out a kitty toy.

“So, a pet igloo then?”  I joked.

He laughed.

“How about a gang of hermit crabs?”

He gave me the look that said “Come on, now.”

“Okay then, a normal toy it is.”

I was just about to go pick out a toy when they told us Serenade was done, so we paid for her nails and then he came with me and watched me choose a toy.  I was immediately drawn to a little T-Rex with squeaker inside.  Master Pravus told me that it was a good choice and we took it to the register.

At home, he let me play with the toy a little, and he took a few pictures too.

“What are you going to name him?”  Master Pravus asked me.

“STEGGIE!”  I joked.

“He’s a T-Rex!”  Master corrected me.

“I know, I was just being silly.  His name is REXIE!”  I mewed.  (I’m awful at coming up at names on the spot.)

All but one of my toys (this one, here) has been safe from the tortoise-shelled menace (read: Serenade).  The birdo is upstairs safe and sound in the side table by my side of the bed.  I can’t sleep up there yet though, so for now he’s downstairs under my pillow.  Master Pravus thinks it is cute I am hiding him there, from Serenade.

Thank you for Rexie, Master!  =^^=

    1. @Gaia I’m one of those people who is really, really opposed to having a cat de-clawed, but it was something we were seriously considering with Serenade. She is the most destructive cat we have ever had, and Master is covered in scars from her scratching the crap out of him. (Not to mention how badly she destroyed the rug in our other place). We used to cut her claws on our own when she was a baby, but, she won’t let us do it now that she’s an adult. 🙁

We went to the doctor to talk about our options (because it was really bad, I mean, Master is COVERED in scars from months ago..), and we hadn’t even heard of Soft Paws. I am glad the vet brought that up with us though, because if she hadn’t we wouldn’t have known. She’s had the Soft Paws for two or three months now, and it has been SOO worth it. As soon as she starts to get a few claws showing, we bring her back in for another “pedicure”. 🙂 They have been lasting roughly one month. A few claws will fall off in the meantime, but, she doesn’t start tearing things up until we get to the one month mark.

Master and me really, really didn’t want to get her declawed, so we were relieved that this was even an option. It’s more expensive, yes, but more humane, we think.
