Little Library

little library 2

Master Pravus told me about little libraries shortly after we bought our house.  I hadn’t heard of them before, and we were fantasizing about all the cool things and upgrades we wanted to make to the house eventually.  A little library seemed like a cool idea.  Being lovers of books, we have quite a few in our house and I thought it would be fun to stop by one someday.  I hadn’t seen any in person, but then again, I had no idea what I was looking for either.

One day, out on our errands we noticed not one, but three little libraries somewhat near our house.  This past weekend, after our walk, we stopped by one such library.  I wasn’t sure what to expect but that was half of the fun.  I looked inside the cute little house shape, and I read all of the book titles out loud to Master Pravus and asked him if he liked the sound of any of them for either me or himself.  He told me I could choose a book because he wanted me to pick the first one out myself.  It’s sort of silly, but I opted for a picture book about a couple of pigs.  How could I resist?  There were adult, young adult, and picture books in there, so it was kind of a nice range.  We’re going to pick a book out from our collection to drop off to this same library when we’re in the area next.

It might be a while, but I love the idea of eventually adding a little library to our lawn.  The world always needs more books.

  1. I’ve really been wanting to build one for our yard. I want to put children’s books in there because I haven’t seen many little libraries with children’s books and we live next to an elementary school and in front of a bus stop.
